Compatibility of Hikyaku and Known Problems

Note: Due to different platforms and different browsers with which our Japanese mailer may be used, it is very important to study its compatibility, in particular if you are not sitting before the computer of your own. Here is the table of compatibility and problems that you may encounter during its use.

Earlier versions of Explorer 4 (in particular no English versions) sometimes crashes during the initialization. Update Java VM from Microsoft's site.

Compatible with Explorer version. n/a
Netscape 3 & 4 Windows 95/98/2000/NT 4.0 with Java Plugin 1.1 or later installed.
May be compatible without Plugin if your version number is 4.06 or later.
Impossible to exchange text data with other applications, if Java Plugin is used. n/a
Netscape 4.5 - 4.7 Windows 95/98/2000/NT 4.0
1) Unable to exchange Japanese characters in unicode format on no Japanese computer.
2) Sometimes, the scrollbar attached to the table of Kanji characters becomes uncontrollable.
1) Use rather F2,F3,F4 keys for internal operations. If you want to exchange text data with Outlook Express, use rather Explorer.
2) Use rather "Find Button" or arrow keys to reach the Kanji you wish.
Mac Explorer 4 & 4.5 Mac OS 7.6.1 or later with MRJ 2.2 installed.
1) Sometimes, the selection of a part of text is not visualized (as if unselected).
2) Impossible to exchange correctly Japanese characters with other applications.
1) it is due to a bug of QuickDraw. Hopefully, Apple should release soon a correction.

Netscape 4 & 4.5 Not yet compatible.
